2 days ago was a busy day for me, my mom in law and sis in law were here for a short visit. We went for a walked/window shopping at one of the shop here. Sean was following us of course. We walked pass the kids department, there were a lot of kid's shirts hanging. While we were busy talking to each other, Sean ran to the shirt. He pulled my hand and pointed to a number 3 on the shirt and said, "tweeeee!" My niece heard it too, and she said,"Is that three?I think he said three." I was blurred. This couldn't be, because all this while I just teach him counting from 1 to 10 orally/verbally without showing him all those numbers. Still couldn't believe it, so we searched for another shirt with numbers on it, just wanted to test him. We found one, it's number 8. I showed him that number. Amazingly surprise, he said , "eight"...O.O...OMG!!.. At home, I wrote down all those numbers from 1 to 10 in a piece of paper, and showed him, then he started counting from 1 to 10 with his finger pointed at the numbers, he got it all correct!!
Yesterday, I bought a new ABC's puzzle for Sean. I thought it would be better if I started teaching him ABC in this few days. Back from his class, I showed him the puzzle. He grabbed the puzzle quickly and clumsily before his sister, Shenna could take it from me, all the pieces of puzzle fall a part on the floor. He quickly seated on the floor and picked up the pieces of puzzle one by one. Suddenly he pointed to a letter 'H' and said, "edge", and a letter 'K' and said, "ke..ke..ke..kay"...This time I totally couldn't believe it, I haven't teach him ABCs yet!! Hello!!... Once again I test him, I put all of the letters on the floor randomly and asked him to choose from A to Z...A bit slow but he did it!!!..He knew, he recognized, NUMBERS and LETTERS.
What's playing in my mind?? I wonder who teach him?? Then I remember one of his teacher ever told me that Sean knows numbers and letters well, which I took it for granted (ok my bad). That's mean he knew it earlier (do you agree?). I strongly believe that he learned it by himself, silently from his tablet. He knew it and recognized it, but there is something in his brain that prevent him from speak it out which cause him delay in speech. Till today he still can't pronounce 1 and 7 correctly. See here my previous post. I still not really satisfy with all this, this morning I went to Sean's class and met his teacher, according to her, they do learn numbers and letters, but only through songs. By the way, Sean still don't know how to grab pencil correctly. So, what do you think?..:)
But anyway, I love all the beautiful and amazing surprises. Hope more to come in future. Thank GOD.
